The Djiboutian Agency for Social Development (ADDS) held its first press conference today dedicated to the Integrated Urban Development Project (PDUI2), recently inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic.
This meeting with the media marks an important step in the approach of transparency, openness, and accountability that ADDS now intends to place at the heart of its work. Through this conference, the Agency affirmed its commitment to strengthening dialogue with journalists and to sharing the results of its activities in a clear and accessible manner.
Unlike the inauguration ceremony, which focused primarily on visible infrastructure, the press conference’s main objective was to highlight the intangible positive aspects and the social impact of the project, often less perceptible but essential for the beneficiary populations. These initiatives include social connections to drinking water, the Community Development Fund, vocational training programs, the socio-economic integration of young people, strengthening community organizations, and improving living conditions, particularly for women and children, among many other topics.
The presentations by the Director of Social Development, the representative of the French Development Agency (AFD), the President of the Balbala Municipality, and the Project Coordinator provided a complementary overview of the strategic vision, local integration, and concrete results of PDUI2 and PDUI2-Ter.
This first press conference organized by ADDS reflects a clear commitment: to go beyond physical achievements and highlight the human and social impact of development projects, while placing the media at the heart of this information and awareness-raising effort.
ADDS thus reaffirms its commitment to maintaining regular, transparent, and constructive communication in service of sustainable social and urban development.
