Distribution of food and material vouchers to vulnerable families

The youth associations, Najah, Jamaica, Jeunes Actifs, and Kahiyeh of Quartier 7 in collaboration with the Djiboutian Agency for Social Development (ADDS) distributed Monday, February 5 rations, mattresses, pillows and barrels of preserves. Monday at the Neighborhood Community Development Center (CDC). The initiative was part of the activities of the second Djibouti Urban Poverty Reduction Project (PREPUD II). This is a project implemented by ADDS and financed by the World Bank.

On the morning of last Monday, the large meeting room of the CDC in district 7 of Boulaos commune hosted a ceremony for the distribution of food, mattresses, pillows and barrels of water conservations to vulnerable families of this group. district. The event brought together the president of the commune of Boulaos Mohamed Omar Ismaël, the director general of the ADDS, Mahdi Mohamed Djama, the director of social development of the ADDS, Dirieh Farah Souldan, the director of the CDC in the secretariat Youth and Sports (SEJS), Fatouma Nouho Ahmed, Q7 CDC Director, Koureicho Ali Guedi, Youth Representatives Najah, Jamaica, Young Active, and Kahiyeh from Ward 7 as well as women beneficiaries of this project.

The head of the economic integration service of the SEJS, Neima Youssouf Abdi, the deputy Mohamed Youssouf Goumaneh, a technical consultant of the community development fund, Déka Aden Mohamed, as well as police officers of the 2nd district and the brigade 6 / 7 of the National Gendarmerie also attended this event.

After the recitation of a verse from the Holy Qur’an followed by a word of welcome from the CDC director of Q.7 Koureicho Ali Guedi, the ceremony began.

The president of Boulaos commune spoke first. He was pleased to see the culmination of this project developed by the youth of this district and supported by the ADDS. He also welcomed the initiative. “We welcome any project that aims to improve the situation of the vulnerable population of this municipality,” added the president of the commune Mohamed Omar.

We heard similar words from the head of the department of economic integration of the SEJS Neima Youssouf Abdi.

As for the Director of Social Development of the ADDS, Dirieh Farah Souldan, he thanked the people of this popular district for the warm welcome and for their good collaboration with the ADDS. “We have had several projects in this area and during the 7 years we have been working together, we have always had a good relationship with the people of this neighborhood. I congratulate them and thank them. Through this funding, it is a question of supporting the activities of the various associations in their daily newspapers, by giving them consistent means so that some can realize their missions their respective fields namely the animation, the prevention, the sensitization, the training, the ‘insertion’ he says to the interlocutors, mostly mothers of families accompanied by their children.

MP Mohamed Youssouf Goumaneh, who spoke last, stressed that this project is to fight against poverty is initiated by the President of the Republic. “During the 7 years that ADDS has been there to support you, you have demonstrated your commitment to take part in the development of your municipality and I congratulate you!”, He said in substance.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, in line with their micro projects set up with the ADDS teams, which aim to enhance the quality of life of the population through the implementation of social and professional activities, as well as the improvement of Najah, Jamaica, Junior Assets, and Kahiyeh District 7 youth welfare officers and youth associations distributed food vouchers, mattresses, ears, water storage drums, forty mothers from vulnerable families in this neighborhood.

Recall that the Community Development Fund (CDF) of PREPUD II in Quartier 7 aims to revitalize the local associative fabric. More broadly, under the leadership of the State Secretariat for Social Affairs and in partnership with other sector ministries, ADDS implements programs, projects and sub-projects aimed at improving basic social services. in particular: health, education, drinking water, support for youth and basic sanitation.

It also provides vulnerable populations with access to funding sources, microenterprise, and the participation of beneficiaries in the process of developing, managing, and implementing social development programs.
