The Minister of Women and the Family, Moumina Houmed Hassan, the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, Mouna Osman Aden, and the Minister Delegate for Trade, Hassan Houmed Ibrahim, visited the exhibition stands of new products craftsmanship based on beadwork and basketry, yesterday at UNFD headquarters.

The arrival of the three personalities reflects the government’s desire to promote youth employment and crafts, empower women and strengthen communities. The distinguished visitors appreciated the first samples made by craftswomen from all over the country.

It was at the end of a week of training given by experts from the international NGO “Aid To Artisans” that the ministerial delegation wanted to travel to see the creativity of these women artisans.

The day also saw the participation of UNDP resident representative in Djibouti, Barbara Manzi, UNFD Secretary General Fatouma Moussa, women parliamentarians, the representative of USAID, and representatives of ADDS. All were able to get an idea of the impact of the project for the promotion of youth employment and crafts (PROPEJA), and the project of empowering women and strengthening communities. Both of these projects, administered by the World Bank and UNDP, received funding from the Japan Fund for Social Development and USAID and were initiated by the ADDS and the Ministry of Women and Family.
