IMD and SEAS immersion in district VII

Rehabilitation of urban roads. Accompanied by the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, the Minister of Economy and Finance Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, visited yesterday the VII District to see firsthand the progress of the ways of rehabilitation works key to this popular area.
Two Ministers of the Republic in the heart of a popular area, it is rather rare. Yesterday the locals VII had the pleasant surprise to see walking the streets of the neighborhood Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, Minister of Economy and Finance and Mouna Osman Aden, Secretary of State for Social Affairs. Welcoming the oldest, questioning the youngest of their day, the two ministers walked the streets of this great neighborhood to see the progress of the various works undertaken by ADDS. This project implemented by the Djibouti Social Development Agency (ADDS) is part of the urban poverty reduction program (PREPUD) and is funded by the World Bank.
These rehabilitation of the main thoroughfares allow young people to this neighborhood out of poverty.
The project includes work and activities that aim to improve the quality of life of 5000 households in this area through the rehabilitation of roads, the establishment of literacy programs and vocational training to the for women and youth, as well as improving sanitation and garbage collection.
As part of this project, several facilities have been completed, namely a community development center, a health center and a recreation area for the neighborhood.
Accompanied by his colleague Minister of Finance, a native of this great neighborhood, Secretary of State for Social Affairs met with the engineers in charge of the rehabilitation of roads in the area.
The two ministers also discussed with the people who have done their share of their main grievances among which was the rehabilitation of the local mosque. For Ms. Mouna Osman Aden, Secretary of State for Social Affairs, this is a very important project to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of this district. “We came here aims to reassure the public that the work is on track, but we are also there to raise them on the right track work. This project will create jobs for young people since the paving of some roads will be provided by the local youth. Experts are with us to help them build their capacity so to allow them later to continue in this area, “she said.
Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh for his part said the project was important for all the inhabitants of this district.
“I grew up here and I share the joy of all the inhabitants. I just remember that in the last presidential elections, President Guelleh made promises, employment, and rehabilitation of areas of the city. And this project fits into this framework. ”
Moreover, the finance minister has called the community of this area to preserve all public property.
Funded by the World Bank, the rehabilitation of this long road of 1000 meters will be carried out by Yemeni society “Hawk”.
This construction project will be spread over a period of 15 months.
ADDS note that, under the leadership of the State Secretariat for Social Affairs and in partnership with other sector ministries implements programs, projects and sub-projects aimed at improving basic social services such as health, education, drinking water, supporting youth and basic sanitation but also access to finance, micro business and finally encourage the participation of beneficiaries in the development and managing programs and projects implemented.
Commissioned by the Government, the Djibouti Social Development Agency aims at reducing poverty and inequalities between regions. It celebrated in January 2016 its eighth year of existence.
