Arhiba: ADDS and Atuyofan set against malnutrition

ADDS closed yesterday Arhiba, training for the Prevention against malnutrition community-based headquarters of the UDC in the presence of Ms. Salama Ismael Hersi, National Coordinator of the nutrition program, Ms. Fatuma Mohamed Kamil, Secretary General of the ‘Atuyofan association and Ms. Mouna Ahmed Farah, coordinator of the social safety net program ADDS.

In collaboration with the Association Atuyofan and teams from the Ministry of Health, about thirty counselors and facilitators mothers were trained on the importance of breastfeeding, community promotion, early childhood development, and the medical support particularly for pregnant women.

This training is part of the program of social safety nets, which aims to support the most vulnerable segment of the population in Djibouti city and in the interior regions.

Funded by a grant from Japan, this project involves several actors, including ADDS teams in the execution of the program and the contribution of the Ministry of Health in the framework in health status.

On the other hand, to ensure its sustainability, the “social safety net” provides jobs to community goals, said works High Intensity Labor to improve the incomes of vulnerable households.

This approach ensures optimal community involvement in the selection and prioritization of work in High Intensity Labor (HLI) and monitoring within the budget allocated by the project each zone.

This work includes the pickups of plastics and other non-biodegradable bags that are exchanged against cash or food rations, maintenance and rehabilitation of urban community infrastructure.

It includes work intensive labor such as rehabilitation, road maintenance, street cleaning, garbage collection, maintenance of wooded areas and pasture
