National Week of Social Action Tadjourah: PROPEJA

PROPEJA: 29 projects funded in the Tadjourah region.

Under the patronage of the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, Mouna Osman Aden, the Djiboutian Agency for Social Development (ADDS) held last Wednesday at the Tadjourah Technical High School a fund-raising ceremony for the second cycle. as part of the activities of the project for the promotion of youth employment and crafts, (PROPEJA). The ceremony took place in the presence of the region’s prefect, Abdoulmalik Mohamed Banoïta, the chairman of the regional council, Omar Hassan Houssein, the director general of the ADDS, Mahdi Mohamed Djama, and the project manager Propeja, Ide Mohamed Abdillahi as well as eighty-seven beneficiaries.

The funds thus granted, amounting to four hundred thousand francs (400,000 DF) per project, are intended, in total, for twenty-nine projects in the region, fourteen of which are at Randa, eight at Adailou and seven at Tadjourah town, the chief. -place.

With the support of the Japan Fund for Social Development and administered by the World Bank, PROPEJA’s main objective is to improve the accessibility of young people and women to income and job creation opportunities. through training and support offers as well as financial support for the implementation of their income-generating activities.

The project does include basic entrepreneurship training, micro-project competition, and support to women artisans in the production and marketing of their products. It is for the ADDS to set up a strategy to get out of poverty and to facilitate access to funding sources for young men and women, of low or medium level.

Indeed, under the leadership of the State Secretariat for Social Affairs and in partnership with other sectoral ministries, the ADDS implements programs, projects and sub-projects aimed at improving access to basic social services, especially health, education, drinking water, and sanitation.
