The Djibouti Social Development Agency has signed an agreement with both savings and credit region, CPEC South and North CPEC to further develop its microfinance activities from the beneficiaries.
The microfinance sector is now the pride of the players through the successful experience in such a short time, thanks to government support and know-how of ADDS through its Directorate for Microfinance.

Caisse Populaire d’Epargne and Crédit are Microfinance institutions that were created at the beginning of 2008 in Djibouti since 2011 and in the regions. Their main duties are to provide financial services such as savings and small loans (“micro”) to people who have no access to the formal financial sector (conventional banks) to support them in the creation of productive and income-generating activities (IGAs).

To better coordinate actions for the harmonious development of the sector strategy ADDS has established a Directorate of Microfinance (DMF), better organized and equipped and sole contact CPECs.

Mobilize additional technical resources and build capacity CPECs to better ensure the sustainability of the sector, namely the development of organizational and operational capacity of the network, and the DMF body ADDS aims at capacity building governance and monitoring of staff and officers. The primary management goal of microfinance is to promote, develop the microfinance sector in Djibouti and complete missions in different directions ADDS in the fight against poverty.

For example, since its official launch in November 2012 as the unit of Islamic Microfinance Balbala component of DMF, raised awareness 1000 people, identified 235 projects funded to date 146 projects including 104 projects for women.

Currently these funds are subsidized by the ADDS to encourage adherence to the body but primarily go beyond handouts and fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among developers.
