General Assembly of the CPEC of Djibouti: Preparatory work upstream

The management of the microfinance ADDS organized last Sunday an awareness session on the premises of the credit union savings and loan (CPEC) of Djibouti. The initiative targeted members of the microfinance institution. It was part of the perspective of the general meeting of the CPEC, scheduled for Wednesday 29 April. The facilitators of the meeting have sensitized the audience on the rationale and purpose of the general meeting. This, they said in chorus, to review the activities carried out and renew the CPEC management bodies. They also informed the public that participation records are open from 8 to 13h at the headquarters of the CPEC of Djibouti and the two service points in Balbala and Eingueila as of Saturday, April 18, 2015 and until Saturday 25 April 2015.
The direction of the micro finance the Djibouti Social Development Agency (ADDS) held last Sunday at the premises of the popular savings and credit union (CPEC) of Djibouti.
The hosts of the meeting were the Director of Microfinance, Houmed Mohamed Abdallah, the representative of the Central Bank of Djibouti, Mohamed Robert. These proximity talks were attended on-site members of the CPEC of Djibouti. They allowed the duo of animators to take stock with their auditors to the preparation of the general assembly of the large microfinance institution, scheduled for Wednesday 29 April. Various lessons are learned.
The CPEC mutual institutions are cooperative character that encompasses all the people sharing a priority, one that is an alternative to set-up allowing increasing access of all socio-economic groups to financial services, available at countries.
These include micro-enterprises, the informal sector, women and youth entrepreneurs. Therefore, micro-finance institutions have a general utility vocation. They belong to the Djiboutian customers and help them strengthen their socio-economic well-being.
Since their launch in 2008, CPEC injected a credit volume of over one billion three hundred million of our francs for financing economic activities of its members. They also mobilized savings of over twenty two thousand people.
The CPEC, like all mutual microfinance institutions in the world, held an annual meeting to review the activities carried out and to renew their management bodies.
The CPEC have been commissioned since 2008 by the government in poverty reduction and the fight against unemployment. And, it must be specified, under the leadership of President Ismail Omar Guelleh. They are in the state adequate financing tool generally populations excluded from traditional banking sector and which enables them to develop economic activities, contributing to the creation of wealth, employment and growth.
With the support of the State Secretariat for National Solidarity, which deals with the promotion of micro finance and the Central Bank of Djibouti, in charge of supervising the sector, such meetings will be held during the entire month of April 2015 and give the public the opportunity to learn more about Djibouti issues of microfinance.
To hold annual general meetings, organized CPEC earlier sectoral meetings in each district of the capital and the Arta district for CPEC of Djibouti and in each area covered Tadjourah, Obock, Ali Sabieh, Dikhil respectively for CPEC North and South in the week from 11 to 19 April 2015. These sectoral meetings are intended to designate the delegates who will sit at the annual general meeting of each CPEC and raise awareness on the importance and benefits CPEC of the population.
According to the Secretary of State for National Solidarity Zahra Youssouf Kayad, the government has fully contributed to the success of micro financed in the country. And through the extension of the operation of popular savings and credit unions, and the release of funds and credit lines for financing entrepreneurship, particularly of women and young jobseekers.
