Maternal and Child Health: A plan for capacity building

Last Thursday in Les Acacias, there was talk of improving the health of the mother and child for the achievement of the 4th and 5th goals of the Millennium Development Goals.

The achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the establishment of a program of development and protection of the child and maternal health were on the agenda of the workshop held last Thursday the conference room at Les Acacias.

Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, the event brought together a round table of representatives of health authorities, officials from several other ministries (agriculture, promotion of women and family planning, national solidarity) communicating various UN agencies, executives from the respective ranks of the Djibouti social Development Agency (ADDS) and Red Crescent of Djibouti (CRD)

The speakers discussed the outline of the plan for capacity building and communication strategy aimed at changing behavior together in the development of child and maternal health.

This strategy document is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Health and in particular the direction of health promotion and UNICEF.

Its development is the result of a consultative process that involved all stakeholders. What is the level of technical and financial partners and civil society.

Thus, the workshop last Thursday relocated choosing a focused communication at the heart of the national system for reducing morbidity.

The conclusion summarizes the rationale of the new communicative strategy including the Ministry of Health has adopted.

This recommends the involvement of community volunteers in the implementation of activities against all health problems nationwide.

This strategy aims to influence the curves of morbidity, maternal, newborn and child mortality in the Republic of Djibouti.
