Solidarity Week 2014: 200 “moms-lights” rewarded

Secretary of State for National Solidarity, surrounded by the Vice -President UNFD , the Director General of the ADDS and Presidents of Commons Boulaos and Balbala launched yesterday , Saturday, January 4, 2014 , a week Solidarity rewarding headquarters UNFD 200 ” light ” moms , mothers of families who have acquired good practice to monitor the growth of their children in terms of nutrition, but also care and hygiene health care such as immunization, or attendance at health centers.

These 200 mothers are from light districts of the town and the Boulaos Balbala . This program against malnutrition and poverty ADDS funded and run by the National Union of Djiboutian Women in its second phase.

This project focused on four areas of the town Balbala ( Mosquito , Warabelley , Ward 5 and Hayableh ) and two localities in the district of Arta ( Atar / Damerjog and Douda ) had a total 3178 beneficiaries composed of lactating women and women speakers.

Vice President UNFD explained that ” the purpose of this day is a reward from these lights moms and other hand encourage other beneficiaries of the program to follow the example of these women ” .

The Director General of the ADDS for his part reminded the ins and outs of this project to fight against malnutrition in children which causes a reduction in physical and cognitive abilities , thus depriving them of the opportunity to reach their full potential as human beings.

” To cope with this situation, the government, in partnership with the World Bank , has developed an ambitious program entitled “Social Safety Nets ” whose management is entrusted to the ADDS , ” he has said. .

The Director-General has made clear his ambition for this program stating that ” if in 2013 , 3521 children and lactating women have benefited from this program, we aim to surpass the 6269 recipient for 2014 .”

Before concluding, the Director of the ADDS thanked the technical teams and ADDS UNFD for their tireless efforts as well as moms who have demonstrated that prevention of malnutrition is still possible despite the lack of resources household level.

Secretary of State for National Solidarity, Zahra Youssouf Kayad , for his part, made ​​a plea for the fight against malnutrition.

Ms. Kayad in this direction has praised the merits of national policy in the fight against malnutrition because for the Secretary of State, ” nutritional security is an essential element of national social protection strategy , as essential as the drinking and education as essential as water ” .

” The distinction lights moms certify the effectiveness of prevention project in improving mothers’ knowledge and demonstrates the adoption of best practices to improve child nutrition as well as pregnant women ,” said Ms. Zahra Youssouf Kayad .

Before concluding, the Secretary of State for National Solidarity called to continue this momentum in order to prevent the intergenerational transmission of malnutrition but also poverty.

After the ceremony, various officials present at the ceremony were distributed awards to moms lights.
