Accompanied by a large delegation , the Secretary of State for National Solidarity, Zahra Youssouf Kayad , moved last Wednesday in Obock region where it launched community service and work -intensive labor program nets , funded by the World Bank and managed by the Djibouti social Development Agency .

Secretary of State for National Solidarity, Zahra Youssouf Kayad visited last Wednesday Obock at the head of a large delegation which included the Minister of Health, Dr. Osman Kassim Issak .

The delegation was warmly welcomed in Obock city by the prefect Dabaleh Hassan , President of the Regional Council , Ali Hassan Houmed and by a jubilant crowd gathered outside the prefecture.

In addition to the ministerial delegation , this ceremony included the Director General of the ADDS Mahdi Mohamed Djama , the okals and other traditional leaders and customary obockois , military , parliamentarians and hundreds of women , including those who received community service and work intensive labor program nets .

Secretary of State for Solidarity and his delegation then traveled to the prefecture to officially launch the program work intensive labor ( HLI ) .

Prefect Obock who spoke first welcomed Ms. Kayad and members of his delegation and said he was delighted to take part in the ceremony dedicated to the official launch of the program ( HLI ) .

Hassan Dabaleh did not fail to note that this meeting had a special character due to the fact that it coincides , has he said, with the beginning of 2014 marks a turning point in his in ” our quest to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged social groups. “

Recall that the project is part of the National Week of Solidarity launched earlier this month of January by the Secretary of State for national solidarity to identify and assist the most vulnerable households in the region . The HLI project will support 600 women among the poorest of the Obock region.

Last Wednesday, a first group of 200 women obockoises benefited from the work of general interest of the community project developed by ADDS.

In this regard, the Director of the Department of Social Development ADDS explained that the objective of the program was limited to two axes.

This is according to him ” the prevention of malnutrition to prevent its irreversible consequences and the creation of temporary jobs for eligible households .”

According to him, to achieve these objectives ” the agency has implemented a series of activities both in terms of prevention of malnutrition at the level of services and work intensive labor .”

He added that local actors start work as ” garbage collection , road maintenance , rehabilitation works of community interest, space planning etc. . ”

Subsequently, the health minister said that his ministry has taken the necessary commitment to help all those families who are in obockoises ” vicious circle of malnutrition and poverty .”

Adding that ” the essential irreversible damage due to malnutrition occur during pregnancy and during the 24 months following the birth of the child .”

” I congratulate the Secretary of State to place nutrition as a key element in the design of social nets ‘ the minister said before closing his remarks .

Secretary of State for Solidarity, which took last word highlighted the multiple objectives of this program.

She explained that first of all , it is ” to inject additional income for households participating in awareness sessions to improve their food security .”

The day ended with a tour through different sites work intensive labor. 200 Obockoises elected to this program have already rolled up their sleeves .
