After the diagnosis of constraints, the promotion of good practices.

The humanitarian organization “Action against Hunger” (ACF) and the association “Peace and Milk” (APL) jointly organized yesterday, in the conference room of the NGO Bender Djedid, a training workshop on the diagnosis with community associations in the city of Djibouti to promote good practices in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

In total, about twenty associations from two communes of the city of Djibouti, in this case the municipality of Balbala and Boulaos took part in this workshop.

Note the presence on the premises of the coordinator of the association Peace and Milk, Waberi Omar Guelleh, the director of the NGO Action against Hunger, Jaho Bugwiza, the communication officer of the association to fight against hunger (ACF ), Mouna Moussa Sougueh, ADDS representative, Galab Hassan Galab, and the technical advisor to the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, Ilyas Djama Rayaleh.

The objective of this training is to improve the health of the population by adopting appropriate behaviors in terms of hygiene, sanitation, and use of drinking water. Associations close to the field play multiple roles for this purpose. From identifying community needs, spreading awareness messages, learning about good practices, promoting calls for behavior change, sustainability of activities and development initiatives . It is with this in mind that this training will allow participants to better understand the issues related to the water, hygiene and sanitation sector. Poor sanitation, scarcity and poor water quality, and poor sanitation practices are catastrophic for children and a major cause of death for children under five. They also affect the well-being of children who spend long days on school benches. The physical environment and the cleanliness of schools can have a positive impact on the future of schoolchildren.

Water-related diseases and poor hygiene practices account for 64% of consultations in health facilities.
