Week of the National Solidarity: Building stone cutting and paving roads

The stone cutting project started it two years ago. It aims to reduce unemployment in the target areas of our country. The program, conducted jointly by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the State Secretariat for National Solidarity, had these days a positive development. With new career Balbala who carry creating jobs is daily source of income for bodied hard at work on site.
Under the auspices of the Secretary of State for National Solidarity Zahra Youssouf Kayad, the Djibouti Social Development Agency (ADDS) held last Saturday a sensitization workshop on the stone. The meeting was held at the center of social action and women’s empowerment, based in Balbala, as part of the celebration of the week of national solidarity. The seminar was attended by officials there ADDS, whose director general, Mohamed Mahdi Djama, the president of the municipality of Boulaos Said Abdi Elmi, President of the Common Balbala Nouho Youssouf Hassan, and representatives of local associations.

Indeed, as recalled by the leaders of the ADDS, social safety nets are mechanisms for non-contributory social transfers, targeting vulnerable individuals or households. The initiative aims to support consumption and / or access to basic social services for poor and vulnerable populations. It is regarded as a social integration advantage for working people without qualifications. Households from rural and urban areas are exposed to a variety of shocks that keep accumulating good and human capital that could help them out of poverty. As a large majority of the population, including workers in the informal sector and rural areas, vulnerable social groups are not covered by the formal system of social security. These groups use multiple alternative systems including systems of solidarity territorial scale family and religious networks …
Indeed, the INDS recommends the enhancement of local materials to be leveraged in the creation of jobs. ADDS is currently promoting the establishment of a civil engineering sector through its work (LI) in the execution of projects of general interest. Tailors have received support training ADDS and delivered by specialists. A study tour technicians ADDS was held in Dire Dawa in July 2014, a second for the size of business leaders is expected in the coming months. 19 scale sites are operational in Djibouti city and the surrounding area in Regions 3 (2 Dikhil and Ali Sabieh 1). 5 sites requests are received.
On the other hand, the stone cutting companies are 21 in number and are grouped into a cooperative. 2,800 jobs were created in the town of Balbala and Arta region and another 300 Dikhil. Social safety nets (FSS) is to have to assist the poorest people in order to alleviate their chronic poverty and secure vulnerable people who are on the margins of poverty and risk of falling into a poverty.
The uses contemplated for paving roads are 4.7 million parts to the site Balbala, funded by the National Investment Programme (NIP), 1.2 million pieces of work site Q7 financed by IDA, 2 million parts for street fly 2 Arhiba, Ambouli and Einguella.
