The hotel’s meeting room Acacias hosted yesterday a monitoring manual validation workshop evaluation of the support program to reduce vulnerability in coastal areas, more commonly known PRAREV.

The populations of the vulnerability reduction program is a coastal development program whose overall objective is to support rural populations affected by climate change to improve their resilience and reduce their vulnerability to these changes and promote co marine resources.

The implementation of this program is carried out through a partnership between various institutions and organizations such as the management of land and environment, management of maritime affairs, ADDS and CPEC.

This program spread over six years and whose total cost is estimated at 13, US $ 34 million, or 2.4 billion of our francs, financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The designers retained by the intervention strategy based on an approach adapted to local conditions and the situation of poverty in the country and populations in coastal areas affected by the effects of climate change while laying the foundation for sustainable development based on participatory management of natural resources involving all stakeholders.

In his opening remarks, the coordinator of this project, Ms. Mohamed Beydane Miyir, wished to recall the various technical components of this program are to support the resilience of habitats and coastal profile, supporting the chain fishery values, capacity building.

“The monitoring and evaluation manual is part of a set of media that serve as project management tools. A good understanding of the information transmission chain and roles is important for a monitoring and evaluation system to be effective and useful, “she added.

The coordinator of this project has also reminded all participants holding several training courses that will be taught in coastal regions (Obock, Tadjourah, Arta) to allow partners on the ground to have tools effective basis for data collection.
