Dikhil region-Launch of the “Safety nets” program in Mouloud.

Under the auspices of the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, Mouna Osman Aden, the ADDS last Thursday in Mouloud at the launch of the program “Social Safety Nets” targeting rural localities in the Dikhil region. Highly anticipated by the inhabitants of these localities, the said program aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability, and to improve the living environment, especially for lactating and pregnant women.

In its fourth phase, this program has raised the standard of living of rural populations. It includes community-based jobs, called labor-intensive jobs, to improve the income of vulnerable households. This approach ensures optimal community involvement in the selection and prioritization of labor-intensive work and its monitoring within the envelope allocated by the program to each area. .

In addition to the Secretary of State, the launch ceremony was attended by the prefect of the Dikhil region, the president of the regional council and the director of the ADDS.

Punctuated by several speeches, the ceremony allowed the present leaders to highlight the importance of this program which is part of the process of improving the living environment of vulnerable households. For her part, the Secretary of State for Social Affairs has highlighted the benefits that will bring this program and said it affects more than 200 women in the locality of Mouloud. Secondly, she said, the crucial point of the program is that it offers women the opportunity to carry out income-generating activities through which they can get out of poverty and take charge of their destiny.

In total, more than 1,000 women have been identified among the most vulnerable families throughout the Dikhil region.
