As part of the emergency social protection and food crisis response project of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity, funded by the World Bank, young people from the Ali-Sabieh region celebrated yesterday the end of their training course through an official certificate award ceremony organized by the Djiboutian Agency for Social Development (ADDS), in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFOP).

The ceremony took place in the presence of several personalities, including the Deputy Prefect of the Ali-Sabieh region, the President of the Regional Council, the Director of Social Development of ADDS, as well as local elected officials, alongside the winners and their relatives.

In total, 87 young people native to the region received their certificates in various and essential fields meeting the needs of the job market, including: electricity, refrigeration and air conditioning, mechanics, computer science, plumbing and driving.
In their remarks, the authorities present unanimously congratulated the award recipients for their commitment and perseverance. The Director of Social Development at ADDS emphasized that these training programs represent a crucial step in young people’s entry into the workforce. He also highlighted their impact on strengthening the beneficiaries’ self-esteem and improving their employability.

In a context marked by ongoing military recruitment in the Ali-Sabieh region, these training programs are particularly relevant. Young people who acquire technical skills have a significant advantage, as their profiles are highly sought after, which greatly increases their chances of joining the armed forces.

For his part, the President of the Ali-Sabieh Regional Council expressed his gratitude to ADDS and MENFOP, praising the synergy of their actions which enabled the realization of this training program for the benefit of local youth.

The ceremony took place in a friendly atmosphere and ended with the official presentation of certificates, followed by a group photo of all the participants.
These training programs are fully in line with the promotion of human capital, considered an essential lever for socio-economic development, and to which ADDS gives strategic priority.
Through this initiative, ADDS reaffirms its determination to continue its actions in favor of the development of human capital and the improvement of employment prospects for young people.
