National Social Action Week: SEAS distributes agricultural equipment

Mouna Osman Aden, Secretary of State for Social Affairs, kicked off National Social Action Week on Sunday, 15 January, at the village of Damerjog in the Arta region. She went there with a strong delegation. This included the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of Industry, Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, Minister of Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Livestock, in charge of Hydraulic Resources, Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh, several senior officials of the ministerial department of social affairs, the director of the Djiboutian Social Development Agency (ADDS), Mahdi Mohamed Djama, and the director of the international agency for Turkish cooperation or TIKA of its English acronym, Mickaïl Dardamir.

As soon as they arrived on the spot, the distinguished visitors were greeted by the local authorities, the customary notables, and a host of nameless anonymous Damerjog.

The reason for this joy was the gift of material donated by TIKA and distributed to the agricultural cooperatives of Atar, Damerjog, and Doudah. The happiest ones were the farming of these three localities of the region of Arta.

To each of them, the Secretary of State, in charge of Social Affairs, said to make good use of the tools placed at their disposal. Ms. Mouna Osman Aden urged them to redouble their efforts to improve the yield of their farms.

To this end, the main stakeholders will be able to count on the support of public authorities and development partners, as the Secretary of State in charge of Social Affairs insisted. The appeal did not leave the farmers of Atar, Damerjog, and Doudah insensible. So much the better as the valorization of their vegetable and fruit production will mitigate the risks of food insecurity and child malnutrition at the local level.
